Welcome to a concert of fresh works composed by the Grieg Academy's composition students (among others) and performed by the Concept Store Quartet (CH)

This event is a collaboration between Ny Musikk Bergen and the Grieg Academy by Associate Professor Stylianos Dimou, focusing on new music that resonates with the ensemble.

Concept Store Quartet is an ensemble based in Basel. Despite the conceivably inhomogeneous line-up, the group creates new worlds of sound that have proven to be an unexpectedly inspiring source for both emerging and established composers.

The ensemble was founded in 2018 and gained great recognition at the Concours Nicati in Bern in August 2019, where it won 1st prize and the audience prize. In recent years, the quartet has been very active on the local and international stage

The ensemble’s musical and programmatic choices are based on the need to perform new music that the members can identify with.

This concert includes work by Grieg Academy students Þórbergur Bollason, Marc Alexandre Mayor Ferrer, Isak Rudolf Hård, Ana Maria Oancea, Emil Lehre, Erik Håkon Halvorsen, and also Dr. Stylianos Dimou, and the Latvian/Swiss composer Asia Ahmetjanova.

This event is supported by the Grieg Academy, nyMusikk Bergen and The Norwegian Society of Composers.
